rush redux

Dear Family and Friends,

This is Kathleen and we are w
riting this time from the Rush Pediatric wing again. Andrea's abdomen became pretty severely infected at the site of her surgery. She was admitted on Wednesday and has had to get some heavy duty antibiotics since her white cells are so low following her first "big gun" round of chemo. After a couple of scary days, she seems to have stabilized and her white cells are slowly fight fight fighting back.

We've had a couple of sleepovers and all of us got our taco bell fix last night since Andrea was having a better night. Andrea and Anshul's friends Mike and Crizen stopped by and gave Andrea a cute new 'do that stays off her neck. Shul decided to shave his head out of solidarity and Crizen was kind enough to do it in segments. As we discovered, he may look good with hair, he may look good bald, but he does not look good with horns.
All things considered, Andrea Rose is on the mend again and we have a few more Andrea drug tales that add to this long, strange trip journal. When the surgeon, Dr. Butch, came in, she said she felt like she was in the scene from o brother where art though, being dunked in the bayou. To be fair, his boots did not befit a hospital, I can see where she was thrown. Also, a surgical resident flew in her room in the middle of the night according to Andrea "like a bat out of hell." She has one tremendous book in the making.

I attached the pics of Andrea, Anshul and the fam below so everyone . Please email or send pics of your families so she can keep up on everything going on with you! Aunt Mary, Aunt Joanne and Grandma just stopped by for a visit so we are enjoying their company- Gotta go!

much love

Well, I can see Anshul must have taken over the formatting of the blog. It looks very professional. I've been out working in the yard today. The plants you picked out for me are looking very good, but I need some more help in figuring out what to do next. Believe it or not, I haven't killed anything yet. Maybe you can advise me on some more plants that do well with lots of neglect and very little water. Oh, it would be great if I didn't have to weed them either.

I loved seeing your pictures. It's good to see that you're all in good spirits. It's very sweet of Anshul to shave his head in solidarity with Andrea. I'd have Tom shave his head, but there's not really enough hair there for it to be much of a gesture.

I look forward to seeing you all soon. Let me know when it would be a good time. I have classes this week, and a few next week, but otherwise I'm available for your entertainment.
Do you need any movies to watch? Since I had my surgery last year, I've started amassing a little collection. Of course, most of what I have are chick flicks because James takes everything else. Tom's got Curb Your Enthusiasm. If you haven't seen that, it's hilarious. Talk to you soon.
Love,
Aunt Karen

Awwwww :) How cute of you Anshul bhaiya to shave your head! You look kewl ;) (cool way of saying 'cool' haha)

Dear Andrea,

We all have been praying here everyday for your fast recovery. It's such a pleasure to see that you are doing great with the chemotherapy.

I am reading the book THE SECRET these days. I imagine daily that you are totally fit and back to work and your routine. I also imagine you and Anshul coming to India and visiting us :)

I hope you know about the book. It describes the Law Of Attraction working all time in the Universe.

It has done miracles!!!

It tells us to imagine STRONGLY what we want in 'present tense' , that is, as if we already have it. It says that the Universe will respond to you by providing you what you see !

I would strongly recommend you to read it if you haven't. You can in fact enjoy the film-version of it, which is exactly as the book. The first 20 mins of the film are available free on youtube and you can buy the full version if you like it -

(I like the book more though ! )

I hope to see you soon. Convey my remembrance to all :)

Lots of love and hugs,

Chinu
