Museum & Mexican Food

Andrea had a busy day today. She woke up today with a good deal of pain. I bought new pillows for her to help her sleep better. They backfired, however, and caused her stiffness in her neck. She was fairly uncomfortable this morning. She is sleeping on different pillows tonight. She did get her pain under control though with pain medicine.

After her battle with the pillows, she ended up having a really good day. She took a walk with Kathleen and Kathleen's new dog, Penny. We then went to the Museum of Science and Industry. We saw the U-505 Submarine exhibit and went to chick egg-hatchery. The picture below is a picture of Andrea at the chick egg-hatchery (I know, not a great picture).

Then, in the evening, I made Andrea some Mexican food. All the chemo and other drugs have really messed up Andrea's taste buds and Andrea has really not been able to enjoy food as she used to. This past few weeks, however, seems like some of her taste buds were coming back and she was actually having cravings for certain foods. Tonight, she really wanted her tortilla soup. So, Andrea taught me the recipe and I made her some soup, Mexican rice, and some beans (picture below). She really loved it and it made me feel really great. It was extremely rewarding to see her really enjoying food like she used to and Mexican food is her favorite. Then, we watched another movie and it was not a romantic comedy.

In all, a good day, and looking forward to celebrating Diwali tomorrow with my family, Andrea, and the Taylors.

Sounds like you had a great day. I've had the same problem with new pillows. They look great and feel great, but then when you wake up, you're sore. Have a great weekend.

Goodness gracious...sounds like things are improving by leaps and bounds! I'm so happy for everyone and know things will continue on a positive path.

Can't wait to hear about Kathleen's new pal Penny...if she's a St. Bernard you won't have to worry about getting stuck in the snow up there :+) I've always had a dog...from childhood to now, and have always found they add so much to life....you can't help but smile at them, and they always love you, regardless.

Sven is sick this wkend, so I cancelled a workshop I'd planned to attend, and wanted to catch up with my dear and wonderful friends in Chicago.

Take care, and love to all...Lisa

Wow, busy days and nights for you all! It's great to hear that you are getting your appetite back and with it comes strength and stamina for you to enjoy the holiday with your families. I hope that the light shines brightly in and for you, Andrea and Anshul, and all the darkness of this year goes away.

Sure sounds like great things 'are a comin'!!Andrea, I am so happy you are feeling better! Those rough days are going to soon be behind you. Mexican food is one of my favorites also. It's great to hear you're eating well again. I think of you, Anshul, Joe, Sharon and Kathleen everyday. Many of my co-workers and surgeons I work with, ask about you all the time. I love to give them happy updates.

I bet Kathleen's little Penny is a real joy to play with and cuddle. Have a fun and happy Festival of Lights!

I love you all.
