Happy Birthday Mom (Raj Mangal)

Today was an okay day. Health wise, Andrea's counts did not come up much. Her white blood count is only 0.03. It is on the rise though. She was still in pain today from her mouth sores and could not eat anything. The positive news, however, is that she is visibly getting better. I think in a few days she will be okay. Today may have been the turning point. We are hoping that it was.

Also, today was my mom's 54th birthday (dot not feather) (you will only laugh at the last parenthetical joke if you knew my mom is an Indian from India and Andrea's mom is part Cherokee). My parents came up to Chicago to visit Andrea and it lifted Andrea's spirits a lot. We sang happy birthday, ate cake, and played a little monopoly. Andrea and her parents got my mom a card. Vipul (my brother), my dad, and I have still yet to get my mom a present. The Taylors are making us Mangal's look bad - they would not even let me sign the card. Maybe next year.

We are getting ready for bed and hoping her counts come up tomorrow. In the meantime, above are some pictures from our festivities.

Andrea,
I'm glad you are feeling a little better today. I hope you enjoyed the song from Emily and Julia. I sent some pictures from last(?) year's June birthday celebration last week. I hope you got them. That was such fun. We missed you this year. Take care.
Love,
Aunt Karen

Taylor - I am saddened that you spent the 4th of July in the hospital. Hang in there, with everyone praying for you, and the doctors giving pain meds, this will quickly pass (probably doesn't feel quick enough.) Uncle Bill was over at my house for the weekend and on Friday - July 3rd I let him read your blog with Anshul day-by-day comments, he said he was "amazed" at the
technology, he loved the pictures, video, your calendar and day-by-day comments from Anshul regarding your progress. He said it was a wonderful way to know how you are doing without having people calling and the family telling your update over and over again. He was really
amazed. He also loves all the little side stories and Anshul's upbeat comments. We all pray for a quick recovery and hope to see you very, very soon...............Love Coleen

Hi Andrea,

We are so glad you're getting better and that you'll be home soon. We have loads of cards for you, and loved loved loved all the presents you and your mom got for Jaden :) The rocks are all painted, and we're going to put the bell on the bike this week. We use the nice smelling lotions every day after bath, and are almost out already believe it or not. The coloring book is probably half done already as well.

You are so strong, and are coming through this so amazingly. We think of you every time we open the door, and send our good vibes your way. We would love to visit you at Rush when you'd like a zoo visit. See you soon.

Love,

Jaden, Max, Andy and Bela

What's up Dre!

Glad to hear your white blood cell count is going up! Thought I would change things up a bit so here it is:

What's the difference between a teacher and a train...?

A teacher tells you to spit your gum out while a train goes Chew, Chew, Chew! LOL

I know what you are thinking, why is this guy doing engineering work when his true talent is in stand up comedy.
Hope this puts a smile on your face and don't worry...there's plenty more where that came from!

Love,

Tony

I can't compete with Tony's comedy, but I will say that his joke is better then most of Anshul's.

Hope you have a better day today. You are constantly on our minds.

Love, Adam & Eva

Andrea and Anshul,

So happy your blood counts are on the rise!!! You GO!!!, Baby Girl! I come home from work and one of the first things I do is look at your website for info about you. Anshul, I'm sooo grateful that you've put this together. Your Mom and Dad raised a 'GREAT KID'. (Spoken from a mother of a son.)

Andrea, you obviously married a very loving man.

Anshul, you get your Mother a birthday present or I will kick your butt when I come to Andrea's homecoming when she beats this terrible thing.

I don't even know her but I loved the pictures and she obviously appears so loving and caring. I wish I were closer, I understand the stress you're under and wish I could shop for a present for her, from you.

Don't worry Dear, your mother 'understands' 'boys'! You 'guys' (I have a son, your cousin-in-law)... you guys CAN shop. We ('Mothers') just love it!!

Under the circumstances, which I'm sure your Mother understands, if I can help get her something from you and Andrea, let me know. I don't want to post my e-mail or phone number on the net, but call me. I'll send an e-mail to Andrea's e-mail address that I have for her. Let me know what what she likes.

I absolutely LOVE the pictures you posted, the updates on my niece, Andrea. If I can help you in any way, let me know.

Love,

Aunt Deb
XOXOX
