Day 3 of the 5th Round

Andrea has been doing really well so far in this chemo round. Last time, in the 4th round, she had a great number of fevers and all sorts of pain due to her surgeries. This time, she has had no fevers. She still has pain in her legs/back due to the neupogen injections and the spinal tap, but that is controlled well with pain medicine.

Yesterday she had a fairly good day. In the morning, she had some pain in her legs. Unfortunately we were a little late with the pain medicine so she was in some intense pain for about 30-45 minutes. She, however, felt fine after the pain medicine. Then, the Mangals came by for a visit. We had some nice conversation. After that, her nurse actually disconnected Andrea from all her IVs for 3-4 hours and Andrea got to take a nice walk outside with Mrs. Taylor and Kathleen. In the evening, some of our best friends, Mike and Crizen Hasegawa, stopped by for dinner and brought Andrea's favorite Chinese food. Andrea had a great time with them.

In all, a good day for Andrea. She had some pain, but most of the day she was having fun with friends and family. I am hoping for a similar day today.

You GO Girl!!!! Sounds like you are doing better everyday!!! I LOVE IT!!! I think of you so much!!!!!!! Wish we were closer, hey, I had the best Greek food in Chicago. Can't remember the name of the restaurant, was there on a conference years ago.

I had to work alittle 'late' tonight. Hey, one just can't 'leave' a surgery. I haven't had so much as a half bottle of gingerelle in 3 days, felt better today and stopped by a deli and got a chicken-salad sandwich. I ate some (not much)but it stayed down!!

I did alot of computer work today so was glad of that. Yesterday, my neighbor mowed my yard and trimmed my hedges. What a surprise when I got home!

I spoke with Grandma Smith tonight briefly. She sounded tired but alright. She sounded 'upbeat' that she got to talk to you.

You guys hang in there! Like -ucks sometimes but we 'get by and stronger'!

Anyway, off to bed. I'm tired. You just hang in there, enjoy your husband and your families and your garden! Feel the LOVE and WARMTH and STRENGTH we all send your way!!!

Love,
Aunt Deb
