Andrea is still at home

Well, everyone, seems as though for the first time Andrea has made it over a week at home after a round of chemotherapy. So far, no fevers, and no sign of infections - knock on wood. She still has to work hard to stay at home while her counts are low, but I am very very hopeful that she will be at home until her next round of chemo. I actually think her counts are already on her way up and she has gone past the day where her counts are at the bottom. I say that because she seems to getting a tad bit better. Her nausea has been better past few days. Today, she had no nausea. She also a cough earlier this week which was worrying me, but that seems to be resolving.

Also, her counts were probably at their bottom this past weekend and now they will start to rise. That is why she tried to take it as easy as possible. She took lots of naps. She also played the guitar with her dad, took some short strolls in some gardens near our condo, and watched a few movies. She has been extremely tired these past few days and, thus, taking it easy has been really good for her. I think she will continue to take it easy and start doing more as the week progresses. I think next week she will continue to take more walks and try and get more strength back. She is scheduled to meet with the yoga instructor a couple times next week and, of course, there will probably also be lots of hammock time.

I think each day next week she will get stronger and stronger and it will be a great accomplishment for her to stay out of the hospital until the next round of chemo. She and we are working hard to make sure that happens.

I'm so happy that things seem to be looking up for you. I loved your neighborhood. It reminded me of New York. It's great to have a good place to walk. Say hi to your family for me. I know they've been a great comfort to you as you go through this ordeal. I loved your birthday party pictures. My favorite is the one of Kathleen, you, and your mom. Oh, wait, did I take that picture? I think I did. Wow, I must be very talented. Watch out, Sharon, I'm trying to take over your position as family photographer. I know, you're not worried. I'd have to remember to take my camera more often to take over that job. We miss you all.
Love,
Aunt Karen

YAHOO!! An entire week at home.... the first of many, I'm sure. Sang at Church yesterday, did our weekly grocery trip (at KROGERS, I might add :+), and am reading a book by Janet Evanovich...light mystery w/some comedy thrown in. I've never been a huge reader, but am finding TV more and more mindless, or maybe I'm the mindless one and just don't understand it. Speaking of which, Britta and I watched "The Lakehouse" yesterday evening, w/Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. For the life of me I had trouble understanding the movie and the time warp. Anyone out there see it...and if so, any comments?

Andrea, to see you and Joe playing the guitar was pretty cool. It's great to share a hobby with a loved one. Kathleen, could you and Andrea be any more georgeous??? Of course, w/such a BEAUTIFUL Mom (and don't worry Joe, you're very handsome), I guess it just comes naturally.

Blessings and happy thoughts to one and all....Love, Lisa

Hi,
I am so glad I can finally get back on your website, Andrea. You are so strong and beautiful. I am starting school tomorrow, much later than Indiana folks. Love to you and all.
Patty
