Andrea had a cat scan of her chest abdomen and pelvis yesterday. It showed again no signs of cancer. It did, however, show signs of infection in her lungs. The doctors think that her port is contaminated and is spreading the infection. That is also why she is still having fevers despite being on antibiotics for 8 days.
Consequently, she had to have surgery today to remove the port. This whole thing from the scan to surgery was a very painful and tiring process for Andrea. She is sleeping right now and trying to recover. I really hope the doctors are right and the removal of the port gets rid of her infection.

Andrea and Anshul,
SOOO sorry Andrea is feeling poorly and of the loss of her Grandma Taylor! Such alot for such a young girl to go thru! So thankful she has such loving persons around her! Yes, have participated in the removal of infected ports and yes infection of ports happens .... they are 'foreign bodies' and the body loves to reject them, even tho we may need them.
So hopeful this helps!!!! Just maybe since Andrea's scans are negative, she doesn't need the port anymore and it's well it is removed.
I love you and keeping you in my thoughts! You, baby girl, come from 'fighters'! YOU ARE going to make it!!!!!
FIGHT this lowly beast! YOU CAN!!!
Love,
Aunt Deb
XOXOXOX
Andrea, Brody wants you to know that the pumpkins in the Newberry garden have grown "even bigger!" and he wants you to witness their miraculous growth. We hope the surgery kicks this infection's butt and that you are back here soon and helping us to learn more of our plant neighbors. (The Butterfly Plant is now one of our favorites.) I'm so sorry about your grandma. I am grateful to her, as she was the one who got Brody to start eating zucchini and now he loves it. Big hugs and lots of healing mojo. Love, The Rountrees
Hi Andrea-
We are so sorry to hear about your Grandma. She was very cute at your birthday party, and told us that she not only baked the zucchini bread she brought, but also grew the zucchinis!
So great that the scans confirm that you've kicked the cancer out. I hope that you are healing well post surgery, and that you will be home soon. We will plan to Trick-or-Treat with you on Burling again this year as usual, and promise to give you our good chocolate candies :)
Love,
The Annacones (the zoo)
My Dearest Andrea Rose,
Karen and James and I, made a beautiful DVD with pictures and music for grandma. We have a copy of it for you. It was so cool to see that pic. of you two on the blog.
Grandma loved you very much. Your birth launched a treasured time of her life.
She launched a prayer campaign for you that would rival the invasion of Grenada. I just know all those positive prayers are a helpful to you.
I love you bunches.
Uncle Tom

Andrea and Anshul,
I was just thinking how glad I am that Anshul arranged your birthday party. It was such a wonderful occasion for the family. It reminded me of some of those family vacations that we took years ago. I think we all treasure the extra time spent with Grandma on that trip. Thank you so much for that memory.
I hope that removing the port provides an end to that nasty infection. We miss you and your mom so much. Take care, stay strong.
Love,
Aunt Karen
