A day at the zoo

Above is a picture of Andrea, her sister, her mom, and her mom's friend, Lisa Dorsey, at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago. Even though it was drizzling and a little chilly today, Andrea went and walked around at the zoo. She looked at some polar bears, animals from Africa, and birds (lots of birds and just when I thought no more birds, there were more birds). Then, we all had dinner out at a restaurant in Lincoln Park.

Even though it is still hard for Andrea to all these things, it was very nice to see her get outside and get some fresh air. She did feel weak and had some bone pain today, but she still seemed to enjoy doing all these activities. Also, Andrea has really enjoyed having Lisa Dorsey visiting. It brought a huge smile to her face.

So far, a good start to her week home and hopefully she will continue to get out more and have fun in these next few weeks at home.

Yeah!!! I'm so glad you have some time at home and feel well enough to go out and about. That picture is so cute. Your mom (the furnace) has on a t-shirt and you are in full on winter wear. I understand it is COLD there!! Way too cold for me...I had to go further south :)

Yay Andrea!! Happy to see you smiling! I love the polar bears at the Lincoln Park Zoo - one of them is always doing "laps" in his little pool area. It's kind of depressing though. I think he gets bored - I wonder if he counts laps in his head. Maybe he has a daily goal of like 1,000 laps or something?

Halloween will be here soon, so hopefully your mom will make some of that scrumpcious chili and homemade cider for you!! I had an idea recently that would probably make everyone happy... Kathleen should dress up in that bee costume you guys have to cheer you up! She should commit to walking around Chicago in it for a day. Please take pictures (hee hee).

Keep up the good work getting better!!

Great picture!! It was nice to see your mom for the first time since April. I still get all the scoop on the phone though. I am going to try and get up to see you ASAP. I know you are strong like your mother. Tell Kathleen that I am always thinking of her also. I never had a sister, and she has to be the best. Have a great week, relax, and give your family hugs for me.
Love, Kathy Swaynie

Hi Andrea,

What a nice picture and a great way to spend a Fall day.

I am teaching drivers education now because teaching 13 year old kids isn't enough if a challenge for me.
I hope every day brings you more strength.
I love you very much,

Uncle T
