Dear family and friends,
After two very difficult months I am going to post on my own today. This is an emotional blog for me. I have completed two incredibly hard emotionally and physically months of treatments and hospitalizations from so many complications. There are no words to describe how hard and sad this has been for me but the love and support from everyone has truly helped me get through this so far.
My last hospitalization was an extremely hard time because i have had almost no time in the last two months to be at home and not feel totally out of it and sick. I have depended on the letters, cards, packages and postings to remind me of how loved I am. Mom taped the pictures and letters on the wall in front of me. They were a constant source of comfort and reminders of how loved I am and this will soon ( hopefully) be a terrible moment in time.
Uncle Toms letters reminded me of how wonderful and funny moments we shared as i was just a little girl. Karen's postings have been great and her buckeyes are being greatly enjoyed. The notes and pictures from Beckey have such wonderful memories. The packages from my family and friends have been so much fun. Sam and Emily's notes and jokes for the day have made me smile. Lauren has provided me with the extra nourishment of friendship and love by sending me her H-milk. Crizen has helped me with my hair (and lack there of). There have been so many cards, letters, packages, postings, thoughts and prayers and each and every one of them have touched my heart and is helping me get through this.
I am so thankful I have such loving family and friends. I am 1/3 of the way through and my doctor thinks that as far as tough treatments are concerned that I am halfway through. Due to complications from surgury he has decided to delay chemo for another week. It will be much needed for my body and my mind. It will also be a much needed break for my mom, dad, kathleen, anshul and his family who have worried and fought and worked soooo very hard for me. This has been really hard on them and they have helped me surrive and fight this.
I love and miss everyone. Thank you for loving me so much.
Love Andrea

It's great to hear from you. I asked your dad if you had gotten the pictures that I sent. It's good to see them hanging on your wall.

St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana first in the state to receive
Heart Failure Accreditation from Joint Commission
St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana is the first in the state to earn the Disease-Specific Care Certification for Heart Failure from The Joint Commission, the nation’s premier healthcare accreditation entity.
The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Certification Program evaluates clinical programs and awards accreditation to health care organizations that demonstrate compliance with national standards and safety goals, evidence-based clinical practice guidelines, and performance measurement and improvement activities.
“It is truly an honor to be the only health provider in Indiana to receive this heart failure accreditation from such a reputable organization,” said Mary Norine Walsh, MD, medical director of Heart Failure and Cardiac Transplantation at the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. “Our ongoing commitment to delivering the best outcomes, compliance with rigorous standards and continuous process improvement has benefited heart failure patients across the state.”
St.Vincent began the Disease-Specific Care Certification process in 2005 when it opened Indiana’s first multidisciplinary Heart Failure Unit.
“The process to gain certification took hard work and dedication from our comprehensive team of medical and nursing professionals,” said Mary Fischer, cardiovascular clinical nurse specialist at the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana. “Our efforts have been focused on the care of patients that is based on national guidelines. A primary goal has been education of patients and their families. Our achievement of heart failure accreditation confirms that patients receive the highest level of care at St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana.”
The multidisciplinary team of clinical professionals at the St.Vincent Heart Failure Center provides evidence-based care for patients and works to improve their quality of life. At the 20-bed Heart Failure Center, patients receive individualized attention from specially-trained staff, and are taught important skills for self care to decrease the chance that they will be hospitalized in the future.
Since the opening of the St.Vincent Heart Failure Center, cardiologists and cardiac nurses have treated approximately 3,000 patients.
For four consecutive years, the St.Vincent Heart Center of Indiana has been ranked the number one provider of overall cardiac care, cardiology, cardiac surgery and coronary interventions in Indiana by HealthGrades, the leading independent healthcare ratings company. The dedicated heart facility is also one of only eight hospitals in the nation to be ranked number one in its respective state for the four heart categories.
So glad to hear that you are feeling better!! We can't wait to see you in a few weeks.
Love, Adam & Eva
