Better day yesterday

Yesterday was a better day. Her chemo ended around noon yesterday. Then, shortly after, Dr. Kent, her hematologist/oncologist, disconnected her from everything. He disconnected her IV fluids and her PCA pump. His goal was to try and get her more lucid and start having less side effects from the morphine.

And it worked. She still took the morphine orally, but she was much more lucid and felt much better. She was still had a little nauseated but she did not throw up at all. She also slept great last night with hardly any fever, little pain, and hardly any nausea. So, overall, she is feeling better. I am hoping today she continues to feel much better. She was still been in bed all day yesterday. I am hoping to go on a few walks with her today and get her out of the room. She also did not eat anything yesterday, but I am hoping she eats a little more today. She was able to keep down quite a large quantity of fluids though.

So, if she can go for some walks, eat, and keep things down then we may go home today. If not, then probably tomorrow. It seems like when she leaves the hospital in good health she has a better chance of not returning until the next chemo admission.

Update: Andrea is feeling really good today. No nausea and hardly any pain. She ate breakfast and took a nice walk with me. She looks really great so far today.

It certainly sounds like things are on the upswing and you will be home soon! You are so fortunate to have Anshul, your Mom and now Kathleen nearby to offer comedy, chicken soup and shoes for the walks in the halls that will help you get home faster. If you want to have more good times, think Bloomington! I picked Jordan up from camp in Zionsville on Sunday, then took him to IU for a look-see on Monday. He heard about programs at IU from the admissions office then he went on a brief tour. The campus is even more beautiful than I remembered - oh and what a flood of memories came back for the glory days of college. I cant go back, really, but I AM sending my all good and happy thoughts from that trip to you for a swift return to health and energy when you get home. Ann Shepherd

I am so happy that things are going well. I am in awe of how you always manage to come up with a smile for your pictures. All that early training with your mom sure came in handy.
I'm starting to get busy at school again. Meetings, trainings, puttering around . . .
I hope you get to go home soon.
Love,
Aunt Karen

Kathleen and Anshul,

My love and blessings go out to you!! I'm off today, have an eye care appointment then come home to mow the grass. I think I put the wrong oil in my mower, so need to read the maintenance book again before I mow. (Last time I mowed it smoked and kept quitting on me.)

I'm hoping the pain is waning and absolutely sooo happy you're in remission!!!! I just knew you'd be fine! I love the pictures of you! It helps to feel 'close'.

My doggies are sleeping so need to sneak upstairs for a shower. I'm still sleeping on the floor since one of my doggies broke her leg. I sneak up in my chair to get on the computer or just watch TV. My 'Lucy' who broke her leg, just has to be my side all the time. She comes by me and I pick her up to sit by me.

Well, Dear Ones, stay strong! You Will get through this!

Love,
Aunt Deb
