White blood count keep rising

The good news is that Andrea's white blood cell count keeps rising. It is 0.43 today. I think they may let her go home once it is near 2 or 3. The bad news is that this extended stay in the hospital has really hit Andrea hard emotionally. I think she just wants a day where she doesn't have to wake up in the hospital, have a number of doctors/nurses ask her a bunch of questions, and be confined to such a small cold place. She is still trying to stay positive, but it is very hard for her. She is also not eating very much and she feels very tired all the time.

We are trying to cheer her up and have fun during the day as much as possible. Yesterday, Mrs. Taylor and Kathleen were in Indy. Mrs. Taylor usually works in Indy on Monday and Kathleen had a doctor's appointment in Indy. Mr. Taylor and I were with Andrea alone yesterday. Mr. Taylor player guitar for her and we watched another movie. That seemed to cheer Andrea up. Then, Mr. Taylor left for Indy in the evening, and it was just Andrea and I. We watched a little more television and talked. It was nice having some time with her. Also, Andrea's platelet count was down last couple of days. Kathleen donated her platelets and Andrea received those yesterday which made a big difference in Andrea's energy level.

It has been very up and down last few days. I am wishing her white blood counts takes a huge jump and she can get some rest at home. It has been a long stay in the hospital, but I think we only have a few more days here.

Hi! Andrea and Anshul, and Everyone! I am home 'early' today .... 'early' because it isn't a scheduled 12-hour day. Came home, first of course is 'calming' the doggies that I'm home. I don't want my 'little' Lucy jumping around and need another surgery.

I can't even make a phone call, Remy, the 5 pounder and older one, she thinks I'm calling her 'Mommy' jumps on me and then Lucy, the 12-pounder with a healing broken leg tries to do the same.

I think they've calmed down and so off to the internet.

Andrea, thankfully comes from a very loving family. Then she married a very loving Man and her newly 'extended' family, her family and friends.

I'm sad to be so far away.

Thank you so much you guys!!! Andrea WILL beat this, because of you all, ALL the LOVE!!!

I spoke with the Rep (again today) who had similar situation and who asks about you everytime I see him. (Sometime I just can't talk about it and he understands.) He again, today, said he would be free to talk to any of my family and 'offer hope'. If you want his number, he said to give to you. I will if you write me privately. I don't want to post on the internet.

Andrea, you are loved by sooooooooooooooo many. You hang in there, girl! You still 'owe your Aunt Deb one' for sticking your fingers in my wedding cake and not 'giving me a signal'. Oh well, guess I should've known! Guess what, on my wedding night, your Mom and I, after you went to sleep, stayed up all night reminicing about 'our childhood'. I just loved being with your Mom in Arkansas. Then Denise got to spend the night in the hotel with us.

We were so tired, started to sleep, then your Mom started snoring and Denise and I went into laughing 'fits'. We couldn't sleep. Then Grandma Smith called, her TV went out and guess what ..... Denise and your Mom and I to Walmart! (Thank goodness Walmart was open 24 hours!) We all laughed so hard!!!! It was actually so much fun!

Baby Girl!!!!! You hang in there!!!!! I am so happy you and Anshul got to watch some TV together!!! Nice therapy!!!

Andrea, just relax and get better!!!

I love you,
Love,
Aunt Deb

Andrea,
I hope you get a chance to go home soon. I was certainly glad to get home this afternoon. The air conditioning at school wasn't working very well so it was hot all day. If that wasn't bad enough, it took almost an hour to get all the kids loaded onto the right buses and sent home at the end of the day.
Remember the days when you got to go out and pick your new school supplies, start a new school year, and wait forever for the school bus. Oh well, maybe that's why I became a teacher. I love buying school supplies.
I really enjoyed coming up to see you. I smile when I think of how Anshul was able to surprise you. Staying in the same hotel and hanging out with the family was great too.
Keep your chin up. Try to enjoy the extra time you get with your family right now. Know that we love you and are thinking of you every day.
Love,
Aunt Karen

Dear Andrea,

When I read that your white blood cell or platelet counts are low I always think of "the little engine that could" story. I start thinking that the cells are saying "I think I can, I think I can and slowly, but surely, with effort, they make it to the top of the hill and whew! you are feeling better. Every day is a hill but I know that you will reach the top and whew! these difficult days will be in the past. I keep you and Anshul and your family in my positive thoughts for strength and well being every day. Ann Shepherd

Andrea and Anshul,

Well, jumped up out of sleep, thought I had missed my alarm, then realized I was 'off' today, got up, put a load of laundry in the washer.

You and Grandma Smith and well, all you guys are in my thoughts!!! I really like Ann Shepherd's comment about the 'little engine that could'. That's SOO YOU, Andrea!

Anshul, thank you again for this 'blog'. Thank you for loving my niece so much!

Love,
Aunt Deb
